Dear Friends,

I'm excited to share some good news: I have officially won the Democratic nomination for Vermont House in Chittenden-15 and will be moving forward as a Democratic candidate in the November general election.

Thank you to everyone who wrote my name in, encouraged me, offered advice, signed my petitions, volunteered, or simply took the time to talk with me about the future of our community. I'm deeply grateful.

Now the general-election campaign begins.

I'm running because I believe Vermont can be more affordable, sustainable, and equitable, and because I believe we need representatives willing to bring people together around bold, practical solutions. My priorities include affordable housing, universal healthcare, strong public education and infrastructure, workers' rights, community-based services, and building a green economy that creates good jobs for Vermonters.

Over the coming months, I'll be knocking on doors, holding community conversations, attending neighborhood events, and meeting with people and organizations throughout the district. I want this to be a campaign built with the community, not simply presented to it.

If you'd like to be part of it, there are many ways to help: canvassing, hosting an event, posting on Front Porch Forum or social media, writing a letter or op-ed, displaying campaign materials, making a donation, or contributing your own ideas and skills.

Why I’m running

I am running because I believe Vermont can be a place where ordinary people thrive—not merely survive.

My name is Ben Bosley, and I am running for the Vermont House to help build a more just and democratic future for our state. I’ve lived and worked in Burlington for over ten years, and my background is in social work, business and mediation.

I am running outside rigid party thinking because I believe good ideas should matter more than partisan loyalty. I will listen carefully, think independently, and work with anyone committed to improving life for Vermonters.

Make Vermont affordable

Vermont has become increasingly difficult to afford, especially for seniors, working families, and young adults. We need serious action on housing, property tax relief, childcare affordability, and wage growth so people can build stable lives here.

An economy should serve people—not the other way around. I support policies that strengthen workers’ rights, expand job training, protect labor organizing (I belong to AFSCME), and invest in community infrastructure.

Vermont must explore innovative public-interest financial institutions, including a state public bank modeled after North Dakota, to strengthen local investment, support small businesses, and reduce dependence on Wall Street’s reckless and shortsighted speculation.

Vermont has become increasingly difficult to afford for seniors, working families, and young adults. We need serious action on housing, property tax relief, childcare affordability, and wage growth.

The Green Mountain Public Bank can help finance affordable housing, energy-efficient schools, and municipal infrastructure at lower cost, while the Green Mountain Conservation Corps helps build, weatherize, and maintain these community investments. Together, they lower long-term costs, reduce energy bills, and create good-paying jobs that make Vermont more affordable for everyone.

Climate change is no longer theoretical—it is affecting Vermont through flooding, damaged infrastructure, and rising energy costs. We must invest in clean energy, climate resilience, and the jobs of the future.

The Green Mountain Public Bank would finance renewable energy, flood resilience, and conservation projects across the state. The Green Mountain Conservation Corps would provide the skilled workforce to restore rivers and forests, weatherize homes, install solar and heat pumps, improve parks and trails, and strengthen community resilience—creating good-paying careers while protecting Vermont's natural beauty.

An economy should serve people—not the other way around. I support strengthening workers' rights, expanding apprenticeships and job training, protecting labor organizing, and investing in community infrastructure.

The Green Mountain Conservation Corps, modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corps and AmeriCorps, would provide paid work, valuable training, and pathways into the skilled trades, renewable energy, conservation, and public service. With financing from the Green Mountain Public Bank, communities could undertake projects that create jobs today while building stronger, healthier communities for tomorrow.

Too much economic power has been concentrated in too few hands for too long. Vermont should keep more of our money working for Vermonters instead of sending it to Wall Street.

A Green Mountain Public Bank, modeled after the Bank of North Dakota, would provide affordable financing for municipalities, schools, affordable housing, farms, cooperatives, renewable energy, and local businesses. Working alongside the Green Mountain Conservation Corps, the Bank would finance projects that Vermonters themselves help build—creating a cycle of local investment, public wealth, and shared prosperity that rewards productive work instead of financial speculation

Enacting a 5-year tax incentive for green energy and high-tech startups, and investing in specialized academies to equip Vermonters with the technical skills needed for these industries.

Fulfilling the promise of publicly financed healthcare in Act 48.

A strong and reliable system of community-based care is essential to the independence, dignity, and well-being of Vermonters with developmental disabilities. I will advocate for a stronger and more sustainable system that supports individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and the professionals who provide essential care and support.

I will support policies and investments that strengthen these vital services, value and sustain our direct-support workforce, and ensure that quality community-based care remains accessible throughout Vermont.

Public education is the cornerstone of our democracy. As a product of the public school system, I am deeply grateful for the foundation it provided me. Vermont educators deserve competitive wages, safe classrooms, and the resources and autonomy necessary to help students thrive.

Affordable, high-quality child care is a top priority for me because it is fundamental to Vermont’s affordability and economic future. If we want young people to build their lives here, pursue careers, raise families, and remain in our communities, they need access to child care they can afford. At the same time, the educators who provide this essential care deserve professional recognition, fair compensation, and sustainable careers. I am committed to building on Vermont’s progress toward making quality child care accessible and affordable for every family.

He is also a proud member of AFSCME, reflecting his commitment to working people, organized labor, and the essential public services that strengthen our communities.
